The team at Broadbase International Ltd is pleased to be able to offer our investment clients access to Aegis, one of New Zealand's leading investment administration services.

Technically known as a "wrap" account, Aegis is a state of the art electronic administration service designed to hold, trade and report on your financial investments. 

To protect your interests, Aegis uses a Custodian to hold your investments on your behalf. The Custodian has no discretionary powers so it cannot undertake any investment transactions without specific instructions from you, authorised by your signature. The Aegis account is in your name and Broadbase does not handle any client money. 

Using a Custodian also means you are able to access wholesale managed funds with lower management fees and no entry or exit fees. This provides you with substantial savings over investing directly into retail management funds. You also have access to a wide range of investment opportunities in New Zealand, Australia, United States and the United Kingdom that would otherwise be difficult to access.

When a client opens an Aegis account, they can deposit their funds in the on-call account (usually in NZ$) and then buy their chosen investments. If any of these investments are in a foreign currency, Aegis will buy the foreign currency at wholesale rates (i.e. no margin) and then buy that foreign currency denominated investment. The on-call cash account is normally where short-term money is held (either prior to an investment purchase or proceeds of a sale).
